The Department of Science and Technology-Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICT Office) is excited to announce the opening of a scholarship program aimed at providing game design and development training to select Filipino students and professionals.
The program, launched in partnership with the Game Developers Association of the Philippines, is part of a wider initiative aimed atenhancing Filipino ICT students’ competetiveness as well as increasing the size of the country’s ICT talent pool. The initiative is funded under a special appropriation on the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) proceeds and covers various ICT segments including game development.
The Game Design and Development Course is a 60-day course developed alongside the Game Developers Association of the Philippines. The course equips students with core knowledge in creating 2D and 3D video games and shall be conducted by the University of the Philippines-Information Technology Development Center (UP-ITDC)
Up to 30 slots will be opened to qualified scholars. To qualify, applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria and must go through a screening process. The scholarship program is open to underprivileged, talented and deserving students, practitioners, near-hire job applicants, and government employees. It covers tuition for the 60-day program and allowances of up to P7,000 per scholar.
